These are my Beanie Balls-or Vegan meatballs if you must. I’ve made them today ready for the freezer which is why they are in cake tins. My mix made 16.
These are rather delicate so best to handle frozen rather than thawed.
Ingredients:
- 1 tin kidney beans drained
- 1 teaspoon garlic granules
- A sprinkle of paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper-just a sprinkle
- 100g dried soya mince
- 1 vegan stock cube or granules
- Some flour to dust after shaping
Method:
- Put 100g of dry soya mince into a bowl with a broken up stock cube
- Add enough boiling water to soak up the mince to a fairly dry mixture and stir well.Drain a can of kidney beans
- Slightly warm the kidney beans as it makes mashing easier.
- Into a bowl add your kidney beans and garlic, paprika and cumin.
- Mash with a potato masher or fork until you have a paste with bits of bean in it.
- Combine the kidney bean mix and the soya and mix well.
- Allow to cool and shape into balls.
- Dust with flour.
- These won’t need to be cooked for long. Heat oven or air fryer and coat the beanie balls in a little oil.
Tips
Pop them onto a baking tray with a little oil rubbed over them. If you have a silicone sheet to put them on as well they will be easier to remove.
Handle with care removing them. Unlike meat, they can damage very easily.
I dished up my pasta then added the Beanie Balls then poured over the sauce and sprinkled it with cheese. on Gas 6 or 7. until lightly browned.

They look and sound really tasty Pat. Thank you for posting
Glad you find them appealing. Do try a few and tell me your favourites.
Can you use frozen meatless mince?
I’ve not done it but I am going to say yes. However, the mince itself would possibly be a bit wetter than the soy mince, it is hard to say. I’d thaw it out and drain off any excess liquid, Set it aside, and if you then need to add in liquid use it up.
