Bulk Cooking Chicken

Raw chicken for with marinade

Submitted by: Sarah-Jane Handley

Chickens are often on offer and even full price are a very cheap source of protein. Here are some ideas using whole chickens cut into portions.

5 whole chickens cut up and marinated up to cook tomorrow. A big pot of stock bubbling away. I paid £12.50 for the chicken.

  • 10 breasts
  • 10 thighs
  • 10 drumsticks
  • 20 wing portions
  • Stock 6 portions
  • Should make 46 portions tomorrow
  • Making Satay chicken pieces
  • Salt and chilli wings
  • Teriyaki chicken
  • Coconut chicken noodles
  • Will add rice, noodles and veg

  1. What do you do with the Chicken Skin, please. I have recently taken to eating Chicken, but the skin defeats me, in all aspects.

Some people grill it to eat it crispy, others give it to their pets and some just discard it. I’n not keen on the skin personally so I give it to the cats.

  2. Thanks, ‘pests’ all gone, for the moment; so into waste food, it is!

  3. I render the skins down in a dry pan and use the fat that comes out for roasting my potatoes
