How to make meatballs the easy way. Explained in step by step photos.
I’ve added lots of photographs so you can visualise the step by step process.
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince. You can use any mince but chicken/turkey mince needs more seasoning
- One medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 eggs
- 3 tbsp potato flour. The pic shows strong flour or you can use plain or cornflour
- 2 tsp garlic granules
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 4 tsp mixed herbs
Method
- Put the mince in a bowl and separate it by giving it a massage.
- Add the onion and mix well. I use my hands for the full process.
- Add the eggs, mix well.
- Add the flour, mix well.
- Add the seasoning and mix well.
- Roll into meatballs by putting a bit of the mix in the palm of your hand and using the other hand on top in a circular motion – whichever size you like.
I made small ones today as they cook quicker.
Now for a variation
Once I’d made meatballs with just over half the mix, I added 2 tsp chilli flakes to the remaining and mixed it in well before rolling into more meatballs as I like spicy food.
Baked on gas 5 for approx 30 mins. Keep an eye on them.
They can also be cooked in a frying pan if you prefer.
Can be frozen too.
The added bonus of making your own is that you know what’s in your food and no additives. The beauty of homemade meatballs is also that you can add any herbs/spices/ingredients you like and have available. Don’t like an onion? Leave it out. Prefer ginger and lemongrass? Go for it! I don’t add salt, but you can if you like. The main thing is the mince, eggs and flour.
