Spaghetti Bolognese

I’ve just made a store cupboard meal. The beef could be replaced entirely with lentils or dried soya if you prefer a Vegetarian version. It is very cheap for those watching their money.

This recipe made 5 generous servings of spaghetti bolognese in my pressure cooker.

This can be made on the hob in the same manner but simmered for about 20 mins after sauteeing the veg.

Ingredients

  • I large/2 medium onions 15p
  • 4 mushrooms 20p
  • 250g 20% minced beef 75p (half of a 500g pack)
  • 100g dry weight green lentils cooked and drained 16p
  • 2 Quixo Beef stock cubes 12p
  • 2 teaspoons oregano 8p
  • 2 teaspoon garlic 8p
  • 2 teaspoons basil 8p
  • 2 tins chopped tomatoes/whole tomatoes 56p
  • approx 400 ml water
  • 1 packet of value spaghetti 20p

Total cost £2.33 or 47p per portion.

Pressure King Pro/Electric Pressure Cooker-I set it on saute and repeated twice, to saute onions mushrooms and mince.
Then add other ingredients and set it on meat for 10 mins. I let it release pressure naturally.
