Lasagne Sheets

Homemade strips of pasta, used for lasagne sheets and cooking

There is nothing as lovely pasta wise as homemade pasta Today I made lasagne sheets using just a pastry board, a rolling pin and a sharp knife.

Ingredients

  • 150g plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • Enough cold water to form a dough.

Method

  1. Mix the egg and a little water in with the flour until it forms a doughlike consistency.
  2. Gather the dough, knead a little to ensure everything is mixed evenly and roll in flour.
  3. Break the dough into 4 pieces and use one at a time.
  4. Roll the dough on a floured surface, trimming and dividing it into strips as you go along.
  5. Roll it as thin as you possibly can
  6. Leave it to dry out a bit before you use it in a lasagne.
  7. You could instead, cut it into strips for noodles.

  1. I made this tonight and surprised myself at how quick, easy and authentic the pasta sheets tasted in my lasagne

  2. I made this today when homeschool my grandson. It was so easy. Used it to make your lasagna recipe. It’s a brilliant teaching tool. The lasagna sheets cost about 50p. Bought fresh onions, beef mince, rest from stock cupboard. Had to blitz the tomatoes and onions as Dad a fussy eater. Used maths to work out cost. 8 servings for about a fiver. One for my hubby. 5 for son’s family and 2 for freezer. Thank you so much.
