Middle Eastern Beef Biryani

Ingredients

500g Beef
300g Rice
2 Onions
4 cloves of Garlic
Ginger
Tomatoes
Spices : 1 tsp of each cumin seed, coriander seeds and a couple of bay leaves, and 2 cinnamon sticks plus 1/2 tsp of powder black pepper, paprika, ground coriander, and a pinch of turmeric

  • TIPS: soak rice for 30 minutes)
  1. Fry 2 chopped onion with a pinch of ginger,4 garlic cloves and 2 green chilli’s for 15 minutes on medium heat
  2. Add 1 tsp of each cumin seeds, coriander seeds and a couple of bay leaves and 2 cinnamon sticks and fry for a further 5 minutes
  3. Add 1/2 tsp of powder black pepper, paprika,ground coriander and a pinch of turmeric
  4. Add your preferred meat pieces and fry for another 5 minutes
  5. Add 2 chopped tomatoes and mix
  6. Close lid and leave to simmer for 10 minutes
  7. Add 1 tbsp of vegetable stock powder followed by 2 cups of water.
  8. Bring to boil and lower heat until meat is cooked
  9. Add salt to taste
  10. Add rice and cook on medium heat all the way through
  11. Mix and enjoy x
    Serve with salad and raita
