I thought I would make a small amount of dough for naan breads today.
I used 300 g of SR flour plus about a teaspoon heaped of garlic granules, a teaspoon heaped of Oregano and a little salt. I put it all in a bowl and added 200 g of value yogurt (Aldi plain yogurt not the Greek one). I then added a little milk to mix.
I mixed with a fork until it came together like pastry does then I tipped in more flour until the dough was pliable and not sticky. I use 2 parts flour to one part yogurt. This makes 8 naan breads of average medium size.
I used lots of flour to coat the rolling pin and the board to roll on. I got the ball of dough and divided it into two then into two again until I had 8 pieces. Rolled each one thin. Dry fried-no fat at all in a shallow frying pan -heat it up first. Total cost approx 25p with herbs.
Useful Tip:
As I came to rolling out the second half of the mixture it was getting a bit sticky so I added a little more flour. Roll out just two of these at a time and fry them one at a time.
