As I made my own pasta sauce today I decided I had the best use it in a pasta bake.
Mine is Chicken because we cooked a whole chicken yesterday. However, this recipe also applies to vegetables or tuna if you prefer.
If you want a Vegan or Vegetarian version you can add Quorn or Soya chunks in replacement of the chicken but you will need to cook those according to instructions.
Chicken Pasta bake for 3 adults. Increase the amount of pasta if you want to stretch it to 4.
Ingredients
- 800ml homemade pasta sauce (see the recipe for pasta sauce made with tinned spaghetti) or 2 jars of it.
- 300g of chopped cooked chicken. I used 2 legs and the underside parts of the chicken. (Or 2 tins of Tuna)
- If using veggies, caramelise your onions and maybe use a veggie bake to add to this-tomatoes., onions, courgettes etc-the choice is yours. You could alternately use Quorn and sweetcorn with peas.
- So the above are choices. Chicken or Tuna or Veggies, not all of them.
- 300g pasta. I cook mine first as I like a quick bake on the finished dish. I just use the basic Penne pasta
- 80g of extra mature cheddar cheese if you wish to sprinkle on the top.
- Mix it all together (minus the cheese) and pop it in an ovenproof dish, sprinkling the cheese on top.
- Gas 5 /190 c/170 c fan oven until the cheese melted and golden and pasta have heated through.
Cook approx 20 mins
