Using up some mince I made 8 pasties last night.
I already had some homemade shortcrust pastry in my freezer so thought it was time to make use of it.

Ingredients
- The filling is 125g approx minced beef
- 1 small/medium onion
- 2 carrots
- 2 small/medium potatoes
- A bit of a red pepper
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- I chopped the potatoes and carrots and boiled them up together then mashed them roughly.
- I lightly cooked the onions in a little oil then added the mince. I also had a little bit of a red pepper to it.
- I lightly cooked the mince and mixed together all of the ingredients listed above. I added more salt and pepper to taste as needed. I always like pasties a little bit peppery.
- You can add in other veggies or other meat-as you wish.
- I rolled out my pastry and put some filling in the middle then folded over and crimped.
- I’ve got a little gadget to do that with.
- Cooked on gas 6 until golden-not sure how long.
- Turned them over and gave the underside 5 mins or so to crisp up.
Cost approx £1.60 for 8. So 20p each.
