1940’s Cinnamon Biscuits

Cinnamon biscuits savoury snack (sweets & supper)

Another one of my nana’s cookbook recipes, they are a good dunking biscuit.

It’s also available in my latest little cookbook.

You will need a bowl, a rolling pin and a baking tray

Time 10 mins prep 20 to 30 mins baking.

Oven 160c/GM4

Ingredients

  • 200 g plain flour
  • 125 g butter or baking marge
  • 75 g Caster sugar
  • 1 heaped tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1-2 tblsp milk to bind

Method

  • Line or lightly flour a baking tray
  • Put flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon in a bowl and rub together to form breadcrumbs.
  • Add a little milk and start to pull together to form a smooth dough add until you have a non sticky, smooth dough.
  • Turn out onto a work top and roll out to about the height of two 10ps on top of each other.
  • Cut out rounds, if you use a medium size cutter you should get at least 20 to 25 biscuits.
  • Lay out on a baking tray and bake in the middle of the oven for 20 to 30 minutes until golden.

Cool on the tray then remove to a cooling rack before hiding it in ‘Mums secret stash’

Pricing

This works out at about 41p for a batch. If you make 20 that’s 2p each.
